Complete List of NSW Schools with Opportunity Classes — OC test prep guide by AcePath

What Schools Offer Opportunity Classes?

Opportunity Classes run at 88 NSW government primary schools for Year 5 and Year 6 students — 57 in metropolitan Sydney and 31 in rural and regional centres. Aurora College also delivers opportunity class learning online, bringing the total to 89 OC settings statewide.

When applying for OC placement, families can list up to 4 schools in order of preference (a fourth choice is unique to OC — selective high school applications allow three). Your order never changes your chances at any single school; every choice is judged only on your child's test performance. It simply decides which offer you receive if your child qualifies for more than one. Understanding which schools are available in your area helps you make informed choices.

The schools below are grouped by area for convenience. Region labels are a guide only — always confirm against the official NSW Department of Education list before applying.

Recent Changes for 2026

The OC network is reviewed regularly. From Term 1, 2026, new composite Year 5/6 opportunity classes are being introduced at Doonside Public School and Guildford West Public School, while Ironbark Ridge Public School and Blaxcell Street Public School move to a reduced intake. Because the list changes year to year, always check the official source before you apply.

How to Choose an OC School

When selecting your preferred schools, consider:

  • Location and travel — daily commute for a primary school student matters. Choose schools your child can realistically travel to
  • School culture — visit open days if possible. Each OC school has its own character and community
  • Demand — some schools are more competitive than others. Well-known schools like Artarmon, Chatswood, and Matthew Pearce receive more applications
  • Feeder to Selective — some OC schools have strong pathways to nearby Selective high schools

Important Notes

This list is based on publicly available information and may change year to year as the NSW Department of Education updates its OC program. Always check the official NSW Education website for the most current list before submitting your application.
